  • Oval, orange, "5229", veterinary antibiotic?

    Hi --

I am trying to identify what is supposed to be an antibiotic prescribed by a veterinarian.

The pill is orange, oval, about 9/16" long. It has "5229" embossed on one side.

The label is pretty illegible. The name begins with "Sim" or "Sin". The fourth letter may be a "y" or a "g". If may end in "f".

    Thanks

This one really took some work! Thanks for the challenge.

What you have is Simplicef (cefpdodxime proxetil) 200mg.
Described at the manufacturers site on their product data sheet as "light orange, elliptical, debossed with 5229".

I am not finding a picture that shows the imprint, but here is a link to the manufacturer's site where the description is (look all the way at the bottom of the page): http://www.simplicef.com/display.asp...ies=CN&sec=500

SIMPLICEF™ (cefpodoxime proxetil) is the first and only once-daily oral cephalosporin that’s FDA approved for veterinary use in the treatment of canine skin infections.
